About the position

Skyworks Solutions, Inc. is seeking a Principal Technical Writer to join its dynamic technical writing team. This role is pivotal in compiling, editing, and publishing technical customer documentation for a diverse range of wireless communication solutions. The successful candidate will demonstrate expertise in technical writing and editing, ensuring that all assigned documents meet high standards of quality and adhere to the approved Skyworks Style Guide. The position requires a strong ability to compile technical descriptions, schematics, and drawings received from engineering and marketing teams, while also editing materials to conform to established document templates and quality assurance standards. In this fast-paced environment, the Principal Technical Writer will be expected to work under tight deadlines, applying rigorous writing and grammar rules, as well as technical writing and configuration management principles to all generated documents. The role involves multitasking and executing projects based on business priorities, ensuring that all urgent requests for customer documentation are met in a timely manner. The successful candidate will also interact and establish rapport with engineering and marketing personnel to resolve queries and issues related to content, illustrations, format, and scheduling. Additionally, the Principal Technical Writer will be responsible for submitting documents for approval using the Agile database, ensuring document control integrity with proper revision history, approval workflow routing, and metadata application. Collaboration with the company website developer to publish approved documents is also a key aspect of this role. Responsibilities

  • Demonstrating expertise in technical writing and editing to improve the quality of assigned documents
  • Compiling technical descriptions, schematics, and drawings received from engineering and marketing teams
  • Editing materials to conform to the approved Skyworks Style Guide, document templates, and quality assurance standards
  • Adhering to standard formats, content, and styles with the ability to adapt to new approaches
  • Successfully working under tight deadlines while applying high standards of writing and grammar rules as well as technical writing and configuration management principles to all documents generated
  • Multitasking and executing projects based on business priorities, ensuring all urgent business unit requests for customer documentation are met in a timely manner
  • Interacting and establishing rapport with engineering and marketing personnel to resolve queries and issues pertaining to content, illustrations, format, and scheduling
  • Submitting documents for approval using the Agile database to ensure document control integrity with document revision history content, proper approval workflow routing, and metadata application
  • Working with the company website developer to publish approved documents

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent experience in the wireless industry
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in technical writing
  • Excellent writing and editorial capabilities
  • Experience generating technical documentation (including text and graphics) with Microsoft Office suite, Visio, and Adobe FrameMaker, Photoshop and Illustrator
  • Experience with HTML or XML a plus
  • Ability to interface with engineers and marketing teams to complete documentation
