About the position

As a Principal UX Designer, People Design, you will employ your depth of knowledge and experience designing enterprise software and digital experiences to make the complex simple, clear, and trusted. Through your obsession with the design craft, you'll set a high standard of design excellence for the experiences you design. You will craft consumer-grade, delightful experiences that are inclusive and connect all associates, streamlining everyday tasks to provide value and delight. You'll demonstrate your natural curiosity to listen, understand, and draw out insights from research and analytics to improve how your designs should evolve. While diving into the interaction patterns and business processes of today, you'll be able to imagine and articulate improved future states of those products through design. You'll bring your great strengths in storytelling to present your vision and product design rationale in a compelling, convincing manner to the wider team. While working with partners to determine a shared plan forward that balances business and technology considerations, you will create and champion an experience that is highly engaging and usable and deliver pixel-perfect detailed design with your team. You are an innovator, who applies their curiosity and entrepreneurship to help drive forward-leading designs. As a collaborator, you will help designers, researchers, product managers, business owners, and engineer get aligned around your vision making sure that everyone is aligned on success.

Responsibilities

  • Owning points of view across your products and initiatives and collaborating seamlessly with cross-functional partners through delivery.
  • Creating the experience strategy and setting a design direction for your products that deliver on the user needs and business objectives.
  • Actively soliciting feedback from peers and cross-functional stakeholders through the product design lifecycle.
  • Engaging the design research team at the right points during the design process to ensure the right insights inform the work.
  • Rapid prototyping and experimenting in a fast-paced environment.
  • Multitasking across different projects and adapting to changing priorities.
  • Creating scalable, enterprise-wide experiences to deliver both horizontal and vertical best-in-class UX.
  • Where applicable, working with our Design System teams to expand the component library.
  • Championing the Design Thinking philosophy throughout the business.
  • Communicating effectively with kindness and empathy.
  • Staying up to date with best practices and latest trends in design, in and out of retail.
  • Owning and delivering all phases of product design work across the portfolio.
  • Facilitating creative problem-solving across cross-functional partners to drive best-in-class thinking from all parts of the organization.
  • Driving and holding others accountable to create experiences that celebrate and empower our end users.
  • Proactively soliciting, leveraging, and sharing design research, competitive research, data, and analytics to create full-featured and strategic products.
  • Fostering a maker mindset so teams can iterate and experiment collaboratively to challenge the status quo.
  • Thinking holistically so that we build true end-to-end experiences.
  • Switching gears from deep design thinking to rapid-fire execution.
  • Telling a complex story around complicated systems with clarity while being engaging, detailed, and crisp.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in UI/UX design, graphic design, visual communication, product design, computer science, information technology, or related area and 5 years' experience in UI/UX, interactive and visual design, electronics art, multimedia design, or related area.
  • 7 years' experience in UI/UX, interactive and visual design, electronics art, multimedia design, or related area.

Nice-to-haves

  • Design certification (for example, IDEOU - Foundations in Design Thinking Certificate).
  • Driving product development in a user experience area.
  • Master's degree in UI/UX Design, Interactive and Visual Design, Product Design, or related area.
  • Related industry experience (for example, retail, supply chain, eCommerce, healthcare).
  • Knowledge of accessibility best practices and implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards.
