About the position
Family Concierge has partnered with a lovely and high-achieving family in Buffalo's Elmwood Village to hire an experienced, energetic Nanny-House Manager for two bright and active children, ages 8 and 10. This role is perfect for a childcare professional with house management experience who excels in fostering a structured yet engaging environment. The position is part-time, with core hours from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday, and flexibility is required based on school schedules. The ideal candidate will be responsible for primary care for an 8-year-old girl and a 10-year-old boy, managing their busy after-school activities, providing reliable transportation, and ensuring a fun, stable, and structured environment post-school hours. The role also includes meal preparation, light pet care for the family dog, and maintaining household organization. The candidate should be a confident swimmer due to the family having a pool.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a clean and organized living environment.
- Perform daily light housekeeping duties, including tidying up rooms and common areas.
- Maintain household laundry, including bed linens.
- Load and unload the dishwasher, ensuring kitchen cleanliness daily.
- Clean out the fridge and organize the pantry, including maintaining a shopping list.
- Support household organization projects.
- Pick up children from school and guide them through their after-school routine.
- Prepare light meals for the children.
- Drive children to and from after-school activities with support from parents as needed.
- Ensure children complete homework assignments and provide assistance when needed.
- Plan and supervise activities on days off from school.
- Walk the dog daily and occasionally take the dog to groomer appointments.
- Run household errands, such as grocery shopping, dry cleaning, and pharmacy pickups.
- Manage and organize household supplies.
- Maintain open and clear communication with parents regarding household needs and children's activities.
Requirements
- At least three years of experience as a professional nanny and/or house manager, preferably with experience supervising school-aged children.
- Exceptional organizational skills.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to multitask effectively.
- Reliable transportation with a clean driving record.
- CPR and First Aid Certification.
- Deep understanding of child development principles.
- Strong sense of empathy and compassion.
Nice-to-haves
- Lifeguarding experience is ideal but not mandatory.
- Experience with meal preparation for children.
- Experience in managing household supplies and errands.
