The purpose of this classification is to provide supervision and case management to juvenile offenders placed on court probation. This position requires working a flexible schedule, i.e., some evening, some weekend, via rotating on-call schedule. The role involves conducting investigations and presenting reports and recommendations to the court as directed, providing accurate and truthful information to the court at hearings concerning a child before the court or when requesting a warrant from the judge. Additionally, the position requires maintaining and adhering to minimum standards of contacts, including office, school, collateral, and home visits, in compliance with Juvenile Court Policies and Procedures. Accurate and complete case records/case notes must be maintained in JCATS. The position also involves meeting with probationers and their families to assess risk factors, monitoring the progress made by probationers in meeting the terms of their probation, preparing complaints for probationers who violate the terms of their probation, and preparing dispositional reports for court while appearing in court to make recommendations regarding further action on the case. Regular reviews of court orders with youth, families, service providers, and supervisors are essential to assure enforcement of court orders. The role includes performing drug screenings and assessments for court-involved youth and coordinating services when indicated. The position provides twenty-four-hour on-call service and serves as the intake duty officer to the court as assigned, along with performing all other functions designated by the Juvenile Code, by Order of the Court pursuant to this Code, and by court administration and/or supervisors. Other related duties may also be assigned.
