We're looking for a Process Development Engineer-Staff, Textiles to join our Warwick, RI team. As a uniquely qualified candidate, you will design and develop prototype medical textile based structures and processes to demonstrate feasibility for meeting customer needs. Develops products based on customer needs and specifications. Researches and implements new technologies/capabilities required to meet customer's needs.

Responsibilities

  • Works independently under the direction of the Sr. R&D manager.
  • Interact with customers, medical device engineers and sales team to understand the unmet needs and offer solutions.
  • Selects preliminary materials, manufacturing techniques in developing textile components and related value added processes.
  • Develops costing for processes.
  • Leads the selection and development of new technologies, equipment, capabilities and processes.
  • Interacts with outside vendors, suppliers, and consultants.
  • Provides technical support to sales, customers and operations.
  • Develops and executes design and process investigation and optimization activities, testing and produces corresponding reports.
  • Supports the creation of risk management and design control documents - per ISO 13485 including process flow charts, PFMEA, and control plans.

Requirements

  • MS in Biomedical Engineering, Textile Engineering or Materials Engineering.
  • Minimum of 5 years as R&D Engineer + MS (also, Prototype Engineer, Product Development Engineer). During which R&D Engineer is expected to develop textile-based solutions covering braiding, knitting, weaving, and non-woven. Minimum to have a strong background in knitting and weaving.
  • Min 3 years of experience designing manufacturing process with quality considerations.
  • Six Sigma Black Belt certified.
  • Min 1 year of experience of utilizing Design/Process Excellence tools (Lean Six Sigma tools, DOE, etc.).
