Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day problem-solving & troubleshooting support to manufacturing operations
  • Assume engineering ownership of multiple manufacturing lines
  • Monitor line performance and analyze trends
  • Pinpoint chronic issues and recommend corrective actions
  • Identify process improvement and cost reduction opportunities
  • Foster process discipline and control in manufacturing
  • Utilize the scientific method to solve problems
  • Leads, co-leads or provide support for continuous improvement activities, cost reduction projects, equipment upgrades or safety initiatives
  • Participate/lead Kaizens, DMAIC, & 5S projects
  • Support new product and process validations to receive and integrate new technologies
  • Seek out industry technology advances for application on lines and equipment
  • Consistently and effectively communicates issues and concerns to stakeholders
  • Interface with operators, technicians, team leaders and peers to gain high level of process understanding
  • Actively engage on project teams and act with urgency to close assignments
  • Generate technical documentation for experiments conducted, changes made, and lessons learned

Requirements

  • B.S. or M.S. in Engineering (Mechanical Engineering or Plastic Engineering strongly preferred)
  • 0-2 years related manufacturing or plastics experience

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes including injection molding and automation systems
  • Hands-on troubleshooting experience
  • Experience with data collection, visualization, and analysis
  • Working knowledge of statistical software packages (JMP, Minitab, e.g.)
  • Basic knowledge of Six Sigma (DMAIC) methodology
  • Ability to understand and interpret engineering drawings and schematics (SolidWorks/AutoCAD)
  • Willingness to learn new technology and processes quickly
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize work on an independent basis in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Well-developed verbal and written communication skills
  • Results orientated and a team player
  • Strong proficiency with MS Office 365 applications and exposure to low code applications (Excel VBA, Power Apps, e.g.)
