The primary objective of Process Improvement Engineer is to ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of all improvement aspects within their area of responsibility at the Jackson Mill.
Responsibilities
Identify opportunities for improvement within his/her area of responsibility and approve standards developed from these efforts
Responsible for developing and implementing activities that support the annual action plan specifically as they relate to improvement projects
Design or develop new or alterations to existing structures, systems, and equipment
Provide timely and accurate cost estimates on proposed improvement efforts
Support and participate in CAPEX projects
Develop and coach employees capabilities and knowledge in the application of QIS methodology and participate as required in QIS events
Participate and contribute to the achievement of department goals including goal setting
Serve as a resource to facilitate the vertical and horizontal help chain
Responsible for data entry into online systems utilized for tracking goals and projects
Assist with safety related activities within the area
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in engineering, business administration, or related field - or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum 4-6 years of practical training pertaining to scrap processing, melting, casting, rolling, maintenance, finishing, and/or shipping/warehouse or other heavy manufacturing operations, and to include some supervisory and facilitation experience.
Demonstrate a strong working knowledge of the business system and of steel manufacturing methods and techniques involving the use of heavy mill machinery and related equipment.
