About The Position

The Process Safety Engineer at Lilly is responsible for ensuring the safe and economically effective delivery and operation of compliant manufacturing, research, and administrative facilities worldwide. This technical role focuses on process safety elements, particularly in the Containment area, and involves collaboration with HSE partners to deliver solutions across the company. The engineer will also have the opportunity to influence engineering designs and improve Process Safety standards at new manufacturing sites.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Engineering or related technical field.
  • 3 years of relevant experience in a plant and/or manufacturing environment.

  • Chemical Engineering background preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership in the Containment discipline.
  • Establish and maintain all required technical aspects for containment engineering, including HVAC design and controls, bag technology, valve technology, and piping/system designs.
  • Proficiently conduct risk and hazard assessments to develop containment solutions.
  • Understand toxicological aspects of compounds to develop proper containment engineering solutions.
  • Own and manage engineering standards, best practices, and specifications in containment engineering.
  • Identify and implement new technologies to improve containment outcomes.
  • Influence engineering designs to minimize impact from potent compounds and hazardous chemicals.
  • Implement techniques for cross-contamination control.
  • Understand testing techniques employed in the containment/IH space.
  • Monitor and influence changes in external codes and standards for compliance.
  • Develop and maintain a network of containment engineering professionals and participate in external forums.
  • Collaborate with GHSE and other agencies to understand external rules and regulations regarding containment solutions.
  • Actively participate in the Process Safety community within Lilly by engaging in key elements of PSM.
