About the position

The Processing Technician for Electrical Test at Amazon Kuiper is responsible for the integration and testing of Kuiper satellites and their sub-assemblies in a controlled environment. This role requires a strong background in mechanical and electrical hardware assembly, as well as the ability to lead and mentor junior technicians. The position emphasizes safety, quality, and adherence to procedures while working in a fast-paced environment focused on delivering high-quality satellite systems for global broadband access.

Responsibilities

  • Apply a deep understanding of tools, equipment, and handling machinery to accomplish daily tasks effectively.
  • Uphold all safety requirements in all zones and work locations of responsibility.
  • Assist in the development of new and junior team members and adhere to standards and procedures.
  • Independently execute and prioritize work to meet production schedules.
  • Integrate and test the Kuiper satellite and various complex sub-assemblies in a clean-room and ESD controlled environment.
  • Perform rigging and critical lifts of bulky, sensitive flight hardware.
  • Obtain and maintain licenses, operator permits, and/or certifications as required.
  • Use precision calibrated tools such as torque wrenches, multi-meters, optical inspection devices, micrometers, and calipers.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
  • Perform work according to procedures, specifications, and test instructions.
  • Run functional and environmental testing on units, including basic troubleshooting operations.
  • Use computer software programs for controlling tests.
  • Check and inspect work after completion to ensure engineering and quality standards are met.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing engineers to develop and document activities, including continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to ensure an efficient, safe, and effective work environment.
  • Willing to work overtime and weekends as required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in mechanical or electrical hardware assembly, test, and/or installation.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US Passport and meet customs entry requirements.
  • Ability to pass Kennedy Space Center background checks.
  • Experience in aerospace, automotive, aviation, military, or other high-reliability operating environments.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Experience working with FOD, ESD sensitive hardware, and in a clean room.
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings, work instructions, and standard operating procedures.
  • Ability to use multiple types of precision measuring instruments.
  • Ability to rapidly change roles/responsibilities in a high-paced environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with forklifts, cranes, rigging, and heavy equipment (including previous certifications).
  • Ability to stand for long periods and perform repetitive assembly operations.
  • Ability to climb ladders, work in tight spaces, and perform physical tasks such as bending, grasping, pulling, pushing, and stretching.
