About the position

OPENLANE is currently seeking an experienced Product Design specialist to join our team. We are an online marketplace for auto dealers and our platform is changing the way auto dealers buy/sell wholesale vehicles. Our entrepreneurial, collaborative, and dynamic environment is the perfect place for smart, motivated people to make an impact. As Product Designer at OPENLANE, you'll work closely with our product, engineering, and marketing teams to help create effective, delightful experiences for users of our unique wholesale auction platform and related products. You'll have the opportunity to work across native mobile apps, progressive web apps, and traditional web experiences, ensuring every customer touchpoint is clear, accessible, and engaging. In this role, you will work independently and collaboratively to deliver sophisticated, accessible designs for new features and enhancements across the OPENLANE platform, with a focus on native mobile applications. You will participate in regular design reviews and stakeholder meetings, providing expertise and guidance to more junior members of the team. Additionally, you will lead special projects in user research, conceptual design, and workshop facilitation, helping to guide the future growth and evolution of the OPENLANE platform with contributions to vision, strategy, and execution.

Responsibilities

• Works independently and collaboratively to deliver sophisticated, accessible designs for new features and enhancements across the OPENLANE platform, with a focus on native mobile applications
• Participate in regular design reviews and stakeholder meetings, and provide expertise and guidance to more junior members of the team
• Lead special projects in user research, conceptual design, and workshop facilitation
• Help guide the future growth and evolution of the OPENLANE platform with contributions to vision, strategy, and execution

Requirements

• 7+ years experience designing for mobile and desktop interfaces
• Excellent visual design skills
• Proficiency in Figma, including creation and maintenance of components and component libraries, excellent file and layer management, and consistent naming conventions
• Portfolio that is clear, clean, and easy to navigate
• Highly collaborative attitude with a deep sense of ownership and accountability
• Effective communication skills and ability to think through complex systems
• Passion for understanding users motivations and needs
• Excellent time management and organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities
• Love for exploring emerging design patterns and technologies
