A Product Designer at Paycom is responsible for creating visual representations for existing and new screens across the Paycom system, which spans multiple platforms. This role requires close collaboration with team members and the Team Lead to produce high-quality mockups that adhere to Paycom's design standards for both mobile and web-based applications. The Product Designer will lead design projects across various modules and platforms, influencing the overall design strategy for the Paycom system. They will translate design concepts into layouts, typography, and visual hierarchies, ensuring that the user experience is seamless and intuitive. In this position, the designer will partner closely with product and development teams to support the design strategy, determining product overlap and user experience when utilizing multiple components. They will guide the design process by working with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment between vision and execution. The designer will also identify potential conflicts or collisions between different products, platforms, and features, proposing solutions to mitigate these issues. Utilizing design systems and frameworks, the Product Designer will create new design styles, patterns, and components. They will leverage research data, design principles, and other objective information to support and advocate for design decisions and recommendations. The role includes creating and conducting usability testing, producing research reports from testing findings, and using these insights to inform design improvements. The designer will maintain and recommend evolutions of current design styles, patterns, and components, considering future goals and product roadmaps in their designs. The Product Designer will create interactive prototypes of varying complexity and run usability testing on these prototypes. They will conduct user interviews with clients and assist in user research, studies, and experiments, analyzing and socializing findings with the team. Mentorship is also a key aspect of this role, as the designer will guide Associate and Product Designers, promoting the department's vision and goals across the organization. They will lead discussions and collaborations between cross-functional teams, present to senior-level leaders, and collect data using various techniques to inform product design based on analysis. Additionally, the designer is expected to proactively learn new tools and propose innovative tech solutions, contributing to a culture that advocates for design-driven projects and initiatives throughout the company.
