About the position

At LeoTech, we are passionate about building software that solves real-world problems in the Public Safety sector. Our software has been used to help the fight against continuing criminal enterprises, drug trafficking organizations, identifying financial fraud, disrupting sex and human trafficking rings and focusing on mental health matters to name a few. As a UX/UI Designer you will create user experience and user interface specifications and prototypes following the guidance of lead designer. You understand the big picture, design the UX/UI product specifications, create prototypes, help define surveys, and work with engineers to ensure specified interactive components can be achieved. You are a skilled designer who is passionate about providing the best user experience possible, can leverage “voice of the customer” and data to make informed design decisions, able to collaborate with engineering managers, and stay on top of the latest industry and culture trends. This role reports to the Lead Designer.

Responsibilities

  • Leverages the design system and guidance from senior designers to create UX/UI requirements and prototypes.
  • Collaborates with engineers and managers to define problem statements, ideate on solutions, and create UX/UI specifications.
  • Receives work from a prioritized design backlog and helps inform its prioritization.
  • Performs 'Design QA' to help ensure engineering work matches design requirements.
  • Helps interview and survey LeoTech's users to solicit feedback and act as the company’s 'voice of the customer'.
  • Collaborates with frontend and backend engineers to understand tech stack opportunities and constraints.
  • Performs user research and benchmarks competitive products.
  • Supports team and/or customer workshops to identify pain points, define problem statements, and identify solutions.
  • Helps define success criteria and KPIs needed to evaluate effectiveness of design decisions.
  • Helps disambiguate and standardize concepts and terminology across all product features and components.
  • Creates and maintains user workflows and journeys.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree or 4 years of equivalent work experience
  • Knowledge of UX design tools, with specific proficiency in Figma and Figma-based component libraries
  • Knowledge of analytics tools e.g., GA, Pendo, MixPanel, or other
  • Ability to elicit feedback, requirements, and ask clarifying questions
  • Ability to define problem statements and present solutions
  • Ability to lead workshops with users, customers, product managers, engineers, and data scientists
  • Ability to empathize with end users and find creative solutions
  • Some knowledge on FE frameworks e.g., React to gauge how designs impact project scope, developer’s load and timelines
