We are seeking a passionate Product Designer for our eCommerce fulfillment team to help customers of our 18 banner brands shop seamlessly across channels and assist our brands in delivering the best customer service from product discovery through delivery. This position is an individual contributor role within the department, playing a key role in developing customer and associate experience design for features and functionalities across Albertson's Digital properties that drive customer and business value. The ideal candidate will possess a customer-first mentality and a grounding in design thinking to rethink our business. An understanding of customer research, knowledge gathering, ideation, prototyping, design process, and concept visualization/prototyping are vital for this role. The Product Designer will be responsible for visual communication of concepts using techniques like journey mapping, storyboards, sketching, and light prototyping to convey visual and interaction design concepts. Collaboration with Product Management is essential to define best-in-class customer and associate experiences for key fulfillment initiatives. The designer will also be responsible for the design process of product features and iterations, developing design solutions for new problems and improvements to existing features across multiple areas and applications, including apps and websites. The role requires taking learnings from competitive analysis to identify opportunities based on various data points, including business strategy, customer needs, and competitive insights. The designer will utilize research insights to address user needs and design effective solutions, while also anticipating and inviting feedback to improve their work product and personal development. Delivering competent design solutions, soliciting feedback from leadership, and providing timely updates are crucial aspects of this position. The designer will also build on design language through insight-driven modifications and suggestions, identifying opportunities for collaboration and initiating conversations with product and tech teams to discuss ideas.

Responsibilities

  • Take learnings from competitive analysis and identify opportunities based on multiple data points: business strategy, customer needs, and competitive learning.
  • Use research insights to address user needs and design solutions.
  • Design and constructively critique effective experiences for end-users.
  • Anticipate and invite feedback to improve work product and self with a constructive mindset.
  • Deliver competent design solutions and solicit feedback from leadership, providing timely updates.
  • Build on design language through insight-driven modifications and suggestions.
  • Identify opportunities for collaboration and initiate conversations with product and tech teams to discuss ideas.

Requirements

  • 3+ years relevant professional experience required.
  • BS/BA degree required; Graduate studies preferred.
  • Must be able to clearly communicate, sell, articulate, and advocate design rationale.
  • 3+ years of experience in one or more of the following areas: user experience, information architecture, or creative design.
  • Internet and retail experience strongly preferred.
  • A strong product design portfolio that demonstrates how you design to solve customer needs.
  • Advanced in design and prototyping tools (e.g., Figma).
  • Usability and customer-focused design experience required.
  • Passionate about building great user experiences and solving customer and business problems.
