About the position

The Product Development Specialist at Wawa will focus on the development of beverage products, collaborating closely with the Category Team to align product offerings with strategic goals. This role involves refining existing programs to enhance quality and eliminate non-value-added activities within operations. The specialist will lead day-to-day product development functions, manage projects independently, and ensure that product specifications meet customer and associate feedback.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Product Development day-to-day functions for specific categories/sub-categories.
  • Work independently to move projects through the process to meet assigned goals.
  • Create and refine specifications for line extensions by developing multiple profiles/options for each concept.
  • Facilitate internal and external sensory events, including preparation and follow-up.
  • Revise formulations and programs based on feedback from sensory events, in-store tests, and sales data.
  • Perform competitive analysis and benchmarks.
  • Communicate sample feedback based on ingredient attributes to team and vendor partners.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally through each stage of the Product Development Process.
  • Maintain all project details for assigned categories, including quality control checks and product specifications.

Requirements

  • Degree in Food Science or Culinary Arts, Certified Culinary Scientist, Certified Research Chef, or related field preferred.
  • 2 to 3 years of experience using a formal product development process or equivalent.
  • Master's Degree in a related field is preferred.
  • Experience with beverage development is preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
