About the position

The Product Manager for Data and IT at Uncommon Schools will lead initiatives to enhance technology and processes across the organization. This role requires a blend of technical expertise and strong change management skills to support the organization's goals in providing high-quality education. The Product Manager will manage use cases, develop processes, oversee policy and user management, troubleshoot issues, and maintain the product roadmap, all while collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure effective implementation and training.

Responsibilities

  • Manage Use Cases: Understand stakeholders' goals and use cases for the platforms, respond to inquiries, manage VIPs, track SLAs, and coach new support staff.
  • Own Processes: Develop and manage implementation of processes for platform use, including automations and security protocols.
  • Own Policy & User Management: Build policy resources around user management and access levels for stakeholders.
  • Troubleshoot: Resolve Tier 3 issues in collaboration with vendors.
  • Own the Product Roadmap and Maintenance Strategy: Manage system upgrades, backups, and connectivity with other applications.
  • Build Expertise: Attend vendor training to enhance product knowledge.
  • Work with Business Process Owners: Champion long-term vision for platforms and identify process improvements.
  • Project Support: Assist in the implementation and roll-out of new applications.
  • Training and Documentation: Create and manage Knowledge Base articles and facilitate training for school leaders and staff.
  • Vendor Management: Manage contracts, build vendor relationships, and handle escalations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree; Master's preferred
  • 5+ years of work experience in a customer-focused role
  • 3+ years in a K-12 environment
  • 1+ years supporting user provisioning based on an ERP or Active Directory
  • 1+ years managing Zendesk Ticketing System or 2+ years managing another Ticketing System
  • 2+ years managing or supporting student-facing technology
  • Familiarity with Agile principles of product management
  • Experience creating and managing shared knowledge sharing sites, including intranets and LMS
  • Ability to diagnose issues and implement effective solutions
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven ability to create and execute complex project plans
  • Growth mindset and interest in feedback for improvement
  • Demonstrated personal effectiveness strategies
  • Advanced skills in Excel and Google Sheets/Forms
