Product Owner (Austin, TX)

About the position

The role involves working closely with the lead Product Manager and senior leaders to translate future vision and requirements into clearly defined epics and user stories. The primary focus is to ensure that all team members understand and align with the product's goals. This includes creating and maintaining a prioritized product backlog, developing user stories, managing the backlog, and facilitating communication between stakeholders and the development team.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain the product backlog, prioritizing features, user stories, and tasks based on business value, customer needs, and market trends.
• Break down high-level product requirements into detailed user stories for the development team.
• Continuously groom and refine the product backlog based on feedback and changing priorities.
• Act as the primary point of contact between the development team and stakeholders, communicating progress and updates regularly.
• Define acceptance criteria for user stories to ensure clarity for the development team.
• Participate in sprint planning meetings to select user stories and tasks for upcoming sprints.
• Collaborate with the team and stakeholders to plan and prioritize releases based on market needs and business goals.
• Ensure product quality by accepting or rejecting work done during sprint reviews.
• Gather feedback from stakeholders and end-users, incorporating it into the product backlog as necessary.
• Identify and mitigate risks that could impact product development or delivery.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., business, computer science) or equivalent work experience.
• 5 years of experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment.
• 4 years' experience in Product Management or as a Product Owner.
• Experience with JIRA or other similar tools.
