About the position

The Product Owner II at Availity is responsible for leading a scrum team that supports an expanding product line focused on enhancing payment accuracy within the healthcare sector. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to gather and refine user stories and product requirements, managing product development and quality assurance activities using Agile methodologies, and ensuring that solutions are scalable and meet stakeholder needs. The position offers an opportunity to contribute to a new vertical within Availity, addressing pain points between payers and providers to improve payment processes and transparency.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a scrum team in the development of the Payment Accuracy platform.
  • Gather, document, and refine user stories and product requirements.
  • Manage product development and quality assurance activities using Agile methodologies.
  • Participate in weekly meetings with internal and external customers.
  • Inform product roadmaps and provide status updates on issues and progress.
  • Lead client calls and facilitate key deliverables, including user acceptance testing (UAT).
  • Refine requirements into actionable definitions and maintain the backlog.
  • Participate in agile ceremonies and support multiple concurrent projects.
  • Research team documentation and present findings to various groups.
  • Support technical implementations around the Essentials product as necessary.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Over 2 years of experience in a Product Owner role within a healthcare technology organization.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret business needs and translate them into operational requirements.
  • Experience in initiating and managing projects from inception to completion.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of interacting with diverse groups including executives and subject matter experts.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external partners.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Payer or provider operations.
  • Familiarity with APIs and technical integrations, EX/UI, and AWS.
  • Product Owner certification.
  • Experience leading an Agile scrum team.
  • Proficiency with tools like JIRA and Confluence.
