About the position

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Product Owner to lead the development and integration of a patient portal across a well-established client's expanding network. This role is pivotal in ensuring a seamless user experience, driving digital transformation, and aligning the portal's functionalities with organizational goals. The Product Owner will develop and maintain a comprehensive product roadmap for the patient portal that aligns with the merger's integration strategy and organizational objectives. This includes collaborating with key stakeholders to define product vision, goals, and success metrics, as well as engaging with internal stakeholders, including clinicians, IT professionals, and administrative staff, to gather requirements and feedback. As the primary liaison between the business units and the development team, the Product Owner will ensure clear communication and alignment of priorities. They will oversee the end-to-end development lifecycle of the patient portal, from conceptualization to deployment and ongoing support, ensuring timely and within-budget delivery of portal enhancements and integrations. The Product Owner will advocate for the needs and perspectives of patients and providers in portal development, conducting stakeholder interviews and working with CX/UX teams to inform product design and enhancements. Additionally, the Product Owner will work closely with IT teams to ensure seamless integration of the patient portal with existing electronic health records (EHR) and other digital health platforms, addressing data interoperability challenges and ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations and standards. Establishing and monitoring KPIs to measure the success and impact of portal implementations will be crucial, as will continuously identifying opportunities for product improvement and innovation. The role also involves developing and implementing change management plans to facilitate portal adoption across the network and coordinating training programs for end-users to maximize the utilization and benefits of portal features.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Advanced degree (MBA, MHA) is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Product Owner, Product Manager, or similar role in a healthcare setting.
  • Proven experience with patient portal platforms.
  • Experience navigating complex projects, particularly mergers and acquisitions, in the healthcare industry.
  • Strong understanding of EHR systems, specifically Epic Systems.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Knowledge of healthcare regulations, standards, and best practices.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) or similar certification is a plus.
  • Certification in the patient portal platform is highly desirable.
