About the position

Dexian is seeking a Product Owner for an opportunity with a client located in Glen Allen, VA. The Product Owner will be responsible for maximizing the value of a product by defining its vision and roadmap. This includes defining and prioritizing stories in the product backlog and articulating these priorities to both stakeholders and the development team. The role requires close collaboration with stakeholders to understand their needs and working alongside the Product Manager in a scaled Agile model to ensure alignment with business objectives. The Product Owner must possess a working knowledge of the product and a basic understanding of the relevant business or technology domain. With some guidance, they will create the vision and roadmap for the product, ensuring it aligns with the strategic direction of the business or technology domain. Effective communication of the product vision and roadmap to stakeholders and the team is crucial. Additionally, the Product Owner will collaborate with stakeholders to understand their needs and problems, create and prioritize work for one team, and learn to collaborate with cross-functional teams. They will refine stories with the team to ensure there are enough ready stories to load the next 1-2 sprints, review and accept stories, and make on-the-spot decisions regarding scope and requirements. The role involves working in partnership with the team to ensure that optimum value is obtained through technology and a deep understanding of the business.

Responsibilities

• Communicates the product vision and road map to stakeholders and the team

• Refines stories with the team to ensure there are enough ready stories to load the next 1-2 sprints
• Reviews and accepts stories and is empowered to make on-the-spot decisions on scope and requirements
• Works in partnership with the team to ensure that optimum value is obtained through technology and through an advanced understanding of the business

Requirements

• 5+ years as a Product Owner
• Experience managing the portfolio of a product team
• Data analysis/Profiling
• Ability to partner with other functional areas
• Ability to develop awareness of business function for which application is being designed in order to drive out detailed requirements and form effective partnerships
• Strong analytical ability, independent problem solving, and effective communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies and deliver in a fast paced agile environment
• Expert knowledge and experience in software development methodologies and industry practices
• Expert understanding and experience with building and deploying enterprise applications
• Ability to work in a matrix environment with minimal supervision
• Excellent written, verbal and diagramming skills. Expertise in using PowerPoint and clearly articulating findings/presenting solutions
• Self starter; strong and clear communication skills; Ability to explain complex problems in simplified terms
• PO/PM certified
