Repair and Maintenance

About the position

The Production Engineer (CFM56) at StandardAero is responsible for providing engineering support for component repair processes, focusing on the development of minor repairs and continuous improvement programs. This role ensures compliance with airworthiness and contractual requirements while driving efficiency and quality in production operations.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and establish improvement programs through root cause analysis and trend improvements with the quality department.
  • Develop minor/major repairs in conjunction with OEM and in-house engineers under DAO sanction.
  • Maintain and update Reworks Process Instruction (RPIs) and production routings based on approved data.
  • Review scrap for potential repairs and log scrap rates and costs.
  • Provide management input on repair/process implementation.
  • Execute MRB documentation and NCTs in compliance with company instructions.
  • Manage technical variance with OEM and customers.
  • Act as a liaison between business units and remanufacturing services to resolve production issues.
  • Implement new repairs/processes using project management tools to meet production objectives.
  • Perform production capacity planning and interpret technical drawings.
  • Support business unit personnel in developing and implementing new repairs and processes.
  • Conduct cost-benefit analysis on repair projects and provide estimates for work packages.
  • Support Program Management in margin enhancement opportunities related to Repair Development.
  • Assist in acquiring equipment to meet implementation objectives and monitor equipment safety issues.
  • Write technical reports and proposals and develop work instructions.
  • Observe safety requirements and report unsafe practices or conditions.
  • Carry out special projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • Good planning, organizational, analytical, leadership, interpersonal, decision making, oral and written communication skills.
  • Good project management skills.
  • Ability to understand and apply company processes and quality requirements related to airworthiness.
  • Working knowledge of gas turbine/accessory design theory and basic machine shop practices.
  • Familiarity with precision measuring instruments and ability to interpret technical drawings.
  • Thorough knowledge of failure modes and effects analysis.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Basic knowledge of production management computer systems.
  • University degree in mechanical, industrial, aerospace, or metallurgical engineering or equivalent.
  • Experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Direct engineering experience with the General Electric CFM56-7B engine product line preferred.
  • Specific understanding of General Electric repair schemes and standard practices preferred.
  • Must be authorized to work in the US.
