The Production Manager is responsible for planning and supervising production operations and staff within a given department.
Responsibilities
Manages and supervises production lines, personnel, and facility issues.
Responsible for ensuring employee productivity, facility safety, and maintenance activities while working in conjunction with other managers and supervisors.
Ensures the SQF Code is followed.
Responsible for executing the production schedules.
Directly supervises, trains, develops, and evaluates production supervisors and line personnel.
Monitors, exceeds, and maintains production standards for efficiencies, material waste and quality.
Monitors and reduces costs within the department.
Observes and enforces safety, GMP, and allergen programs and attends appropriate training sessions.
Actively participates and leads continuous improvement initiatives.
Responsible for manufacturing, distributing and consistently maintaining safe and quality food by following current good manufacturing practices, allergen/sanitation controls, food defense/food fraud, HACCP/FSMA, SQF, and regulatory requirements.
Aware and accountable for maintaining and documenting preventative controls necessary to ensure food safety and quality.
Responsible for immediately reporting all food safety and quality issues to management.
Responsible for partnering with others, sharing knowledge, skills, and information within assigned team and across functional areas.
Responsible for enhancing technical and functional competencies, as well as professional and leadership development.
Responsible for compliance with all safety policies and procedures established for health and workplace safety.
Responsible for supporting safety culture by practicing safe work behaviors, reporting potential hazards, and conducting safety observations as assigned.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in operations management or related field preferred.
Five or more years of supervisory experience in a food manufacturing environment.
PCQI certification preferred.
Computer skills in report generation and Microsoft applications required.
Excellent decision making, planning and leadership skills required.
