About the position

Manage the production of accessible text formats. Provide future direction for business unit through generating new customers and researching new and emerging practices in text production. Establish and maintain relationships with collaborative partners nationally. Provide technical support and workflow management to unit. Supervise production staff including responsibility for setting employee goals, assessing employee performance and providing feedback, and making pay recommendations. This position will interact on a consistent basis with: AMAC Accessibility Solutions and Research Center management and staff. This position typically will advise and counsel: same as above. This position will supervise: production staff.

Responsibilities

  • Manage, facilitate, and provide unit development. Includes strategic planning for the unit and consultation with peers on the national and international levels.
  • Manage development of new programs, services, and product lines, and including collaborating with other institutions. Provide national leadership on production of accessible text formats.
  • Ensure accountability for contract deliverables, grantwriting, and the Request for Proposal (RFP) process for new customers.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures for production.
  • Implement cost saving procedures and monitor budget of unit.
  • Supervise unit staff and provide technical support. Responsible for production of text and monitoring production workflow.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Manage the braille production workflow, ensuring high standards of accuracy, quality, and timely delivery of braille materials for both on-demand and mass production projects.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to procure services supplies, materials and services required to complete deliverables for sponsored projects while managing and tracing inventory levels.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain quality control procedures and training initiatives to ensure all braille materials consistently comply with established standards, guidelines, and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Four to six years of job related experience.
  • Overnight travel required for project delivery; flexibility in on-site daily service delivery hours (due to client shift schedules, project requirements).

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in publishing, digital media, assistive technology, or other related alternative media fields.
  • Master Degree.
  • Preferred Certifications: LOC/NLS Literary Braille, Nemeth, Music, Literary Proofreading, Nemeth Proofreading and NBA Braille Textbook Formatting.
