The Production Supervisor for the Night Shift at Sabre Tubular Structures is a critical role responsible for overseeing the first line supervision at the Alvarado, Texas manufacturing facility. Reporting directly to the Plant Manager, the supervisor is accountable for various aspects of manufacturing, including safety, productivity, and quality. This position requires a proactive approach to managing daily operations, ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently and effectively while adhering to safety standards and quality requirements. In this role, the supervisor will assign daily work tasks to personnel within the shop, making informed decisions regarding work priorities based on published schedules and discussions with the department manager. The supervisor must continuously monitor the progress of daily work schedules to ensure satisfactory completion and maintain accurate records of employee attendance and performance. Daily reports of time and attendance will be provided for payroll purposes, and the supervisor will evaluate employee performance in terms of safety, quality, productivity, and attendance, initiating training or corrective actions as necessary. The supervisor is also responsible for maintaining authorized staffing levels, initiating appropriate documentation to fill vacancies, and conducting interviews to select candidates for open positions. Regular communication with other department supervisors and attendance at meetings to exchange information is essential. The supervisor will conduct departmental meetings to communicate with subordinates and provide one-on-one feedback to keep employees informed of their progress and areas for improvement. A thorough understanding of safety issues related to operations is crucial, as the supervisor must ensure that all employees adhere to safe practices at all times. The incumbent will also be expected to foster harmonious relations within the shift and between shifts, exercising cost control, meeting production schedules, and minimizing scrap and rework costs. The role requires a commitment to ongoing improvement and the ability to implement effective solutions to key problems while maintaining sound business ethics and integrity in all interactions.
