About the position

Gia-Pacific is seeking Production Supervisors for our Plywood Mill located in Prosperity, SC. This role is critical as it involves overseeing operational departments, specifically in the Green-end and Glue-Press areas. The Production Supervisor will lead a wood products production team, ensuring that operations are conducted in a safe and efficient manner, adhering to the company's management philosophy and framework. The primary focus will be on fostering a work environment that is injury-free and incident-free, while also driving continuous improvement in all associated work processes, including Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) compliance, reliability, quality, production, and cost management. In this position, the Production Supervisor will take ownership of existing safety and quality processes, leading the operational team in the production of structural panel products. Responsibilities include facilitating team development and communication, enhancing employee skill sets, and promoting problem-solving and resolution strategies. The supervisor will also be responsible for driving safety excellence by encouraging employee involvement and accountability to proactively eliminate hazards. Monitoring product quality and providing direction to crew members to maximize efficiency will be key tasks, along with providing coaching, feedback, and performance management to team members. The role requires the supervisor to assist with troubleshooting production issues, deliver safety training to crew members, and complete data entry responsibilities while generating reports in a timely manner. The team size may range from 10 to 20 members, and the position reports directly to the Department Superintendent.

Responsibilities

  • Lead an operational team in the production of structural panel products in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Take ownership of existing safety and quality processes.
  • Facilitate team development and communication, employee skill development, and problem-solving.
  • Drive safety excellence through promoting employee involvement and accountability.
  • Monitor product quality and provide direction to crew members to maximize efficiency.
  • Promote employee involvement by providing coaching, feedback, and direction as required.
  • Assist with troubleshooting production issues.
  • Provide safety training to crew members and deliver training materials effectively.
  • Provide coaching and performance management to team members.
  • Complete data entry responsibilities and generate reports in a timely manner.

Requirements

  • Two (2) or more years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or military environment.
  • Must be able and willing to work night shifts.
  • Must be able and willing to work in a manufacturing plant environment, including extended periods in noisy, non-air conditioned or unheated areas.
