About the position

The Department of Mechanical Engineering at UC Riverside is seeking applications for a Professor of Teaching position (Open Rank) starting in the 2025/2026 academic year. The role focuses on teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, curriculum development, and providing services related to the undergraduate program. Candidates with expertise in manufacturing are preferred, but exceptional applicants from other areas of Mechanical Engineering will also be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Develop and enhance curriculum, particularly in manufacturing and hands-on educational experiences.
  • Advise undergraduate students on course selection and career development.
  • Engage with external sponsors to support senior design projects.
  • Participate in university and public services related to the undergraduate program, including ABET accreditation and recruitment outreach.
  • Advise and support undergraduate student clubs and their participation in national competitions.

Requirements

  • A B.S. and Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering is required at the time of employment.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in high-quality and innovative teaching in undergraduate Mechanical Engineering courses in an ABET-accredited program.
  • Demonstrated record of teaching capstone senior design courses and experimental laboratory courses.
  • Experience in developing curriculum that integrates hands-on use of manufacturing facilities.
  • Experience in advising undergraduate student clubs and their participation in competitions.
  • Commitment to promoting diversity and inclusiveness in teaching, research, and service.

  • Experience with curriculum development that includes practical educational experiences.
  • Successful engagement with external sponsors for senior design projects.
