About The Position

The Program Coordinator at Columbia University's Center for Justice (CFJ) will support leadership development initiatives, including the Collective Leadership Institute (CLI) and the Beyond the Bars Fellowship (BTBF) programs. This role involves coordinating various projects, providing operational support for events, and collaborating with program staff to ensure the successful implementation of training and initiatives. The position is grant-funded, and continued employment is contingent upon sufficient funding.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent and a minimum of 0-2 years of related work experience required
  • Demonstrated commitment to social justice issues and activities
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and administrative skills
  • Highly organized, good problem-solving skills
  • Must be able to work independently and on teams
  • Experience with budgeting and basic accounting
  • Be highly skilled in Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate CLI and BTBF cohorts including recruitment, interviewing and selection of cohorts
  • Plan and manage all pre- and post- meeting and event logistics for the CFJ, including the annual Beyond the Bars conference
  • Manage all travel arrangements and provide technical guidance to CFJ staff and meeting and event participants and facilitators, as needed
  • Assist in the ongoing assessment and development of CLI and BTBF projects including the leadership trainings, retreats, solidarity projects, grant proposals and public programming
  • Develop, implement and maintain organizational and communication systems to streamline and optimize the functioning of the CFJ
  • Assist the Program Manager with the preparation of weekly and quarterly reports and correspondence, including those for class sessions for BTBF and CLI
  • Track payments and expenses, submit and reconcile expense reports within the CLI and BTBF grants
  • Serve as key liaison for internal and external CFJ partners
  • Assist the Program Manager to develop and adhere to program budgets; Access and monitor CfJ grants and accounts, through the University’s financial systems (ARC and FDS)
  • Provide updated program information to the CfJ Co-Director and communications team
  • Other duties as assigned
