About the position

The Program Design Manager/Agile Scrum Master at Viasat is responsible for leading project delivery from inception through launch and operational support. This role focuses on enhancing the Security Engineering team by facilitating Agile processes, managing product backlogs, and ensuring effective communication among teams. The ideal candidate is passionate about customer success, innovative solutions, and continuous improvement in Agile practices.

Responsibilities

• Organize and facilitate Scrum ceremonies and backlog refinement
• Champion Agile software development standard processes, acting as a coach to the organization
• Support the Product Owner in grooming and maintaining the product backlog
• Facilitate the creation and management of Epics, Story Boards, Use Cases, and Story Point estimation
• Track and communicate team status and progress via burnup and burndown charts
• Manage dependencies between the product team and others, collaborating within the Platform/product teams
• Vendor management and financial oversight specific to the teams supported
• Demonstrate timely responsiveness to complete work and address problems
• Proactively remove or call out roadblocks to allow team progress
• Maintain relevant metrics to help the team monitor their performance
• Encourage continual improvement in Agile and Dev Ops practices
• Coordinate timely response and support to production line customer issues
• Lead and participate in project release estimation process

Requirements

• 1-3 years software development and/or Project Management experience in a professional environment using Agile methodologies
• Hands-on Scrum Master experience including backlog management and iteration planning
• Experience with Agile software and collaboration tools (Jira, Slack, Wiki, Workboard, etc.)
• Strong analytical, problem solving, time management, relationship building and influencing skills
• Exceptional written and verbal communication and collaboration skills
• Ability to resolve challenges and facilitate discussions
• Persistent drive for continual improvement, both with team and self
• Self-motivated and the ability to work under minimal direction
• Desire to bring disclosure and awareness of the product teams about technical development
