About the position

New Castle Community Schools is seeking an innovative and dynamic Program Director to lead the launch and operation of its first-ever 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21st CCLC) program. This role will oversee the planning, implementation, and evaluation of comprehensive out-of-school time (OST) programming across three Title I elementary schools, in partnership with the Henry County YMCA and various community organizations. The Program Director will ensure high-quality, standards-aligned academic and enrichment experiences that focus on STEM education, student engagement, and whole-child development. This position requires strong leadership, organizational, and collaborative skills to manage staff, oversee compliance, and drive meaningful student outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the overall management and strategic direction of the 21st CCLC program across three elementary sites
  • Supervise Site Coordinators and support staff, providing coaching, evaluation, and professional development
  • Develop and maintain program schedules, curriculum plans, and community partner involvement
  • Oversee the implementation of STEM-focused programming and enrichment aligned to standards (e.g., Mystery Science, Stiix, Discovery Education)
  • Ensure compliance with 21st CCLC grant requirements, including data collection, reporting, and documentation
  • Coordinate with school administrators, district leadership, and community stakeholders to align program goals
  • Monitor student attendance, engagement, and outcomes to inform continuous improvement
  • Collaborate with transportation services to ensure accessibility for all students
  • Manage program budget in alignment with grant guidelines and district policy
  • Represent the program at school board meetings, community events, and professional networks
  • Drive staff development, including promotion of CYC credentialing and advancement pathways
  • Champion a culture of equity, inclusion, innovation, and student-centered learning

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Education, Youth Development, Public Administration, or related field required (Master's preferred)
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in OST, education leadership, or nonprofit program management
  • Proven success in managing teams, leading youth programs, and working with economically disadvantaged communities
  • Strong understanding of academic support, STEM enrichment, behavior management, and family engagement
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills
  • Experience with grant-funded programs and compliance (21st CCLC experience strongly preferred)
  • Ability to build and maintain strong partnerships with community organizations
  • CPR/First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Must pass background check
