About The Position

The Program Supervisor for the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and Land Use team at the Sacramento Metro Air Quality Management District is responsible for leading a dedicated group of professionals focused on advancing clean air, public health, and climate solutions. This role involves supervising staff, implementing policies to reduce emissions, and providing technical assistance to various stakeholders. The supervisor will also engage in advocacy for improved air quality and climate resilience, ensuring the district maintains its leadership in addressing CEQA and Land Use issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related engineering specialty, environmental science, or environmental planning.
  • Four years of full-time experience in air quality management or related fields.
  • Knowledge of air quality management principles, enforcement practices, and environmental regulations.
  • Ability to coordinate, supervise, and train professional and technical staff.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and perform complex work in areas such as inspections, rule development, and air monitoring.
  • Manage consultant contracts and oversee operational and construction mitigation programs.
  • Provide technical assistance to the public, developers, and government agencies on air quality and climate issues.
  • Review land use development projects to promote sustainable changes in the built environment.
  • Testify and present to boards, commissions, and community groups.
  • Develop policies and procedures for program operation and staff activities.
  • Coordinate transportation and land use planning programs.
  • Train, supervise, and evaluate staff; assist with the selection of new employees.
  • Prepare reports, letters, and other documents regarding air quality issues and program progress.
