About the position

The Programmer Analyst II's role is to develop, test, analyze, and maintain software applications in support of business requirements. This includes writing, coding, testing, and analyzing software programs and applications. The Programmer Analyst II will also research, design, document, and modify software specifications throughout the production life cycle. As the Programmer Analyst II, you will perform systems analysis, develop, and review programming code defined in project plans to meet design specifications and customer requirements. You will be responsible for the design, development, documentation, analysis, creation, testing, or modification of web applications, including prototypes, based on user or system design specifications. Additionally, you will complete application modifications to enhance functionality, adapt to technology changes, and correct application errors. Other programming tasks may be assigned as needed, and adherence to all appropriate institutional policies, including IT OPs and other relevant internal departmental policies, is required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform systems analysis and develop programming code defined in project plans to meet design specifications and customer requirements.
  • Design, develop, document, analyze, create, test, or modify web applications based on user or system design specifications.
  • Complete application modifications to enhance functionality, adapt to technology changes, and correct application errors.
  • Complete other programming tasks as assigned.
  • Adhere to all appropriate institutional policies and relevant internal departmental policies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with coursework in computer science, MIS, IT, or other related area plus one (1) year related full-time experience OR a combination of related education and/or experience.
  • At least one year of experience developing web applications.
  • Experience with PHP and/or Python, C#, Java, Perl or equivalent programming language.
  • Knowledge of JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
  • Knowledge of relational databases and SQL.
  • Knowledge of coding best practices.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with additional programming languages or frameworks.
  • Familiarity with software development methodologies such as Agile or Scrum.
