About the position

The Programmer/Analyst MFG position at J.M. Huber Corporation in Shuqualak, Mississippi, is responsible for ensuring the efficiency of plant processes and the safe operation of production equipment. The role involves programming PLCs, creating graphics for MMI, updating electrical equipment, and assisting in the organization and scheduling of electrical maintenance activities. The position requires a blend of technical skills and leadership capabilities to guide electricians and maintain optimal plant performance.

Responsibilities

  • Update and modify graphic systems.
  • Ensure documentation of PC and PLC systems is in order and updated as required.
  • Record and maintain historical access to all mandatory EHS metrics in compliance with operating permits and MMSRs.
  • Write PLC programs and assist the Electrical Supervisor with coordination and production.
  • Operate all plant electrical, electronic, testing, and calibration equipment.
  • Assist service contractors in troubleshooting and repair of electronic, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment and programmable logic controller computers.
  • Work from written material and electrical, electronic, and pneumatic drawings as required.
  • Prepare electrical sketches using proper signs and symbols.
  • Document all changes in electrical circuits on engineering drawings and send them to the Engineering Department.
  • Detect and report faulty equipment, defective materials, and unusual conditions to the Supervisor.
  • Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned.
  • Assist in training personnel.
  • Requisition replacement parts and materials needed to keep instruments and equipment in working order.
  • Maintain records of work performed on instruments and equipment.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to electricians and the Instrument Control Technician.
  • Perform crew scheduling in the absence of the Electrical Supervisor.
  • Issue requisitions for parts, materials, and supplies as required.
  • Assign and schedule work for day and shift electricians to ensure timely completion of required tasks.
  • Notify the Plant Maintenance Manager / Engineer of any deficiencies that arise.
  • Ensure that the PM schedule is followed.
  • Attend the weekly down day meeting to ensure proper scheduling of personnel.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 3-5 years of experience in wood products or manufacturing preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills (presentation, written, oral).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Windows Server, Microsoft SQL Server, Wonderware Archestra, and Rockwell RS Logix 5, 500, & 5000.
