About the position

The IT Senior Programmer Analyst at American Signature Inc. plays a crucial role in the design, construction, installation, testing, and maintenance of software systems that support various business functions. This position is integral to ensuring a seamless furniture shopping experience for customers by developing IT applications that align with business objectives and strategic initiatives. The role involves creative problem-solving, test-driven design, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to enhance application performance and user experience.

Responsibilities

  • Cultivate Continuous Improvement by applying design concepts across multiple programming languages and data structures.
  • Develop Unit and Integrated test cases along with Design.
  • Create test-driven designs for IT architect review.
  • Write code, test cases, and supporting documentation to project specifications.
  • Utilize and create Best Practices for maintainable applications.
  • Create and support realistic test cases with appropriate data and processes.
  • Support QA and business team member testing activities.
  • Help define requirements for and integrate ASI systems with 3rd party applications.
  • Develop and utilize reusable code.
  • Tie business requirements to developed code through documentation that enables ongoing support and subsequent development.
  • Lead unit and integrated testing of existing and new applications.
  • Proactively support applications during Operating System, hardware, and 3rd party (integration) upgrades.
  • Build and maintain relationships with IT and business leaders.
  • Influence cross-functional partners by providing credible designs and articulating a point-of-view.
  • Escalate issues, risks, and changes in a timely, structured manner.
  • Ensure team members and managers understand current status, future milestones and dependencies, issues, and roadblocks involved with your work.
  • Provide accurate estimates to IT management.
  • Optimize the business user experience through feedback and lessons learned.
  • Mentor others on specific development techniques and ensure knowledge transfer.
  • Manage time, stress, and other factors for self while assisting team members to do the same.
  • Take initiative to identify, understand, and solve problems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience with related programming languages and environments.
  • 3+ years in retail industry experience.
  • Proficiency in PHP, Java Script, jQuery, HTML, CSS, SQL, API Knowledge, .Net, JSON.
  • Experience in design, coding, and testing web applications.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally, providing strategic and tactical leadership.
  • Proactive approach by identifying problems and creating solutions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
