About the position

This individual is responsible for selecting and pricing business written within MMA's Programs division. They must develop productive relationships with retail producers that will result in the sustained growth and profitability of this program. This person will maintain underwriting files for the program and interact with our insurance carrier and vendor partners to assure the smooth operation of the program. Program underwriting guidelines must be consistently applied. In force business must be serviced effectively, and problems must be promptly resolved. The essential duties and responsibilities include underwriting program submissions, reviewing applications, and collecting required information. The individual will apply program underwriting guidelines, develop appropriate risk pricing, and interact with insurance carrier partners and producers as required. They will create, document, and maintain underwriting files, facilitate wholesale placements with supporting lines of coverage, and service existing B&B Programs accounts by receiving and processing policy service requests. Prompt resolution of any service problems is crucial, as is the development and provision of renewal proposals and policies in a timely manner. Monitoring loss results and taking corrective action where required is also a key responsibility. Additionally, the individual will solicit new business opportunities by developing productive relationships with retail agents, participating in the presentation of program proposals, and competing aggressively and effectively for desirable program business. They will grow the program profitably, monitor program performance, and initiate corrective actions by reviewing losses to identify and deal with problem areas. Identifying changes required in program underwriting guidelines or pricing and providing feedback on vendor performance are also essential tasks.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred with a minimum of 4 years work experience managing projects and analyzing data
  • Highly proficient with personal computer and MS Office (particularly Excel) required
  • Effective organizational skills and proven ability to balance multiple assignments
  • Ability to resolve problems and present results neatly, with clarity and precision in oral and written form
  • Ability to exercise judgment and initiative within established guidelines
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Property & Casualty license required
  • Resources/Tools such as AM Best; IRMI; ISO; ODEN; PAAS; etc. required
  • Advanced insurance designations applicable to the above duties strongly preferred
  • Willingness to pursue continuing education and professional development
  • Maintain a valid Drivers License and reliable transportation
