About The Position

The Project Engineer for DHS Programs at General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. is responsible for providing systems engineering and technical management for Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS). This role serves as a primary technical contact between the company and its customers, ensuring alignment of system requirements and deliverables. The position offers a hybrid work environment and emphasizes a hands-on approach to engineering design, testing, and validation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical discipline; advanced degrees preferred.
  • Nine or more years of engineering experience with a bachelor's degree, seven with a master's, or four with a PhD.
  • Extensive technical expertise in engineering principles and project leadership experience.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Willingness to work extended hours as required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional Engineering License.
  • Published works in professional engineering journals.
  • Experience presenting at engineering symposiums.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all technical matters between the company and the customer.
  • Develop a comprehensive technical understanding of the aircraft and ground control systems, including flight software and avionics.
  • Create detailed system requirements for new or improved UAS capabilities.
  • Develop program plans, estimates, and schedules.
  • Lead engineering design reviews such as SRR, PDR, and CDR.
  • Provide technical direction to engineering groups to ensure alignment with customer requirements.
  • Engage in hands-on engineering system design, testing, verification, and validation.
  • Lead troubleshooting efforts in the field to resolve technical issues.
