The Project Engineer, Mechanical will be responsible for all mechanical and structural design activities necessary to support the modification and modernization of electric overhead cranes for Region Americas. This role involves interpreting order documentation, including detailed customer specifications, to determine the scope of work and project plan. The engineer will need to search company archives to find records of legacy equipment and must be proficient in reading legacy equipment mechanical and structural drawings. The position requires performing engineering tasks using established procedures, creating equipment layouts, and undertaking all necessary mechanical and structural calculations to confirm designs. The engineer will generate final mechanical and structural designs, create detail, sub-assembly, assembly, and installation drawings necessary to satisfy the order scope, and write detailed work instructions to support field installation. Additionally, the Project Engineer will be responsible for project planning, scheduling, design execution, and performance to budget and schedule from inquiry through start-up.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical or Structural Engineering or related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience with overhead electric cranes or similar industrial equipment preferred.
  • A PE license or the ability to obtain licensure is a plus.
  • Excellent understanding of machine design and structural engineering practice.
  • Experience in overhead material handling industry is highly preferred.
  • Familiarity with industry specifications including CMAA and ASME B30 is a plus.
  • Knowledge of welding and machining is required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient with SAP, AutoCAD, Solidworks, and Microsoft Office.

Nice-to-haves

  • Ability to effectively communicate between frontline sales, customers, application engineers, and project management.
  • Experience with site visits for application and commissioning, requiring the ability to work at heights up to 100 feet off the ground.
