About The Position
The position involves planning, directing, reviewing, or performing work related to the Construction, Design, and Development of assigned Public Works projects. Responsibilities include administering contract construction projects, directing inspectors, survey crews, and quality control. The role also requires directing and reviewing the preparation of plans, specifications, and cost estimates for projects, as well as drafting recommended engineering design standards, policies, and procedures. The individual will instruct and advise project support staff and consultants on engineering techniques, arrange contractual agreements with financial agencies, and interpret Federal, State, and local regulations while developing procedure manuals. Additionally, the position involves preparing or assisting in grant applications, representing the Department as a liaison with other government agencies and the public, conferring with officials, contractors, and professionals on Public Works matters, and providing technical advice to other County departments. The role also includes preparing and reviewing ordinances, resolutions, agreements, and other legal documents affecting the Public Works Department.
