Whippany Actuation Systems is seeking a motivated Project Engineer to join our Aerospace Business Unit Teams. This role is pivotal in creating mechanical design solutions for cutting-edge programs while supporting both production and aftermarket operations. In this role, the Project Engineer will act as the primary customer liaison for project matters, managing and overseeing projects from conception to completion. This includes ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet product cost targets to the satisfaction of all stakeholders. The Project Engineer will develop project plans, timelines, budgets, and resource allocations, coordinating with all stakeholders, including internal teams, suppliers, and customers, to ensure project success. Monitoring project progress and making necessary adjustments will be crucial for the successful completion of each project. The role also involves ensuring product compliance with all technical requirements and supporting requirements traceability and verification. Collaboration with a cross-functional project team will be essential, including conducting weekly meetings and team communications. The Project Engineer will prepare and deliver project status reports and presentations to both internal and external stakeholders, as well as create or coordinate the creation and submittal of customer deliverable items.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary customer liaison related to project matters.

  • Develop project plans, timelines, budgets, and resource allocations.
  • Coordinate with all stakeholders, including internal teams, suppliers, and customers, to ensure project success.
  • Monitor project progress and make necessary adjustments to ensure successful completion.
  • Ensure product compliance with all technical requirements and support requirements traceability and verification.
  • Collaborate with a cross-functional project team to implement and control the project, including weekly meetings and team communications.
  • Prepare and deliver project status reports and presentations to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Create or coordinate the creation and submittal of customer deliverable items.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited university or college.
  • 3 years of engineering experience working in aerospace, defense, or an equivalent high technology manufacturing environment.
  • At least 1 year of experience leading multi-disciplined engineering teams or cross-functional teams.
  • Authorization to work in the US.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, or aerospace engineering preferred.
  • Experience designing and troubleshooting electro-mechanical assemblies and components is preferred.
  • Knowledge of environmental testing in accordance with military and aerospace specifications.
  • Proficiency with PTC Creo CAD (or similar CAD experience) and MATHCAD.
  • Familiarity with DOORS requirement management software.
  • Familiarity with aerospace grade materials and MIL specifications.
  • Familiarity with aerospace grade electronic circuit card design.
  • Self-starter with a bias for action in dealing with issues and tasks.
