About the position

A Project Instrumentation Engineer is needed for a multinational pharmaceutical and biotechnology company, whose areas of business include pharmaceuticals, consumer healthcare products, agricultural chemicals, seeds, and biotechnology products in the Luling, LA area. This role involves providing expertise in instrumentation for projects, focusing on specification, design, safety systems, and field engineering, while managing multiple tasks to ensure timely and budget-compliant project completion. The engineer will be responsible for the design and specification of Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) and will oversee the preparation of designs and work plans from conceptual to detailed design packages. The position requires a strong focus on instrumentation engineering but will also involve other design aspects, ensuring high internal and external client satisfaction. The engineer will develop and update instrument specification sheets, loop sheets, connection diagrams, electrical schematics, and equipment lists, while also managing cable schedules and material takeoffs.

Responsibilities

  • Safety Instrumented System (SIS) design and specification.
  • Manage multiple tasks to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Ensure high internal and external client satisfaction.
  • Oversee and prepare designs and work plans from conceptual to detailed design packages.
  • Focus on instrumentation engineering but involve in other design aspects.
  • Develop/update instrument spec sheets, loop sheets, connection diagrams, electrical schematics, EFDs (P&IDs).
  • Develop cable schedules, instrument indices, equipment lists, and material takeoffs.

Requirements

  • BS or Higher in Electrical Engineering.
  • At least 8 years of instrumentation engineering experience (preferably 5 years in chemical production or refinery).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite).

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge in SIS, SIL, and SRS.
  • Experience with IEC 61508.
