About the position

The Project Manager for the 10 Day Facility - Hazardous Waste at Veolia North America is responsible for overseeing a team of field employees dedicated to the safe disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous materials. This role involves coordinating subcontractors and field personnel to ensure compliance with job specifications and regulatory guidelines. The Project Manager will provide guidance and training to field service employees, ensuring they are well-equipped to handle their responsibilities. Additionally, the Project Manager will prepare project estimates and proposals, assisting with contract preparation to meet client needs effectively. In this position, the Project Manager will manage teams, which includes hiring, evaluating, and taking disciplinary actions when necessary. Compliance with governmental regulations and Veolia's policies is paramount, and the Project Manager must recognize opportunities to enhance value-added services for clients. Maintaining a professional image is crucial, as the Project Manager will be responsible for addressing client inquiries and proposing solutions to potential issues. The role also requires ensuring the completion and accuracy of all required documentation related to DOT/EPA and Veolia's regulations. The Project Manager will oversee the operation and maintenance of equipment to ensure optimal efficiency and effectiveness. They will be accountable for the proper handling of hazardous waste, including receiving, verifying, unloading, and staging materials for future transfer to disposal sites. Proactive communication with facilities regarding inbound materials is essential, as is collaboration with dispatchers on shipments. Other duties may be assigned as needed, making this a dynamic and multifaceted role.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise a team of field employees in the safe disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous materials.

  • Ensure appropriate manifests for transferring materials are accurate and complete.
  • Communicate proactively with facilities regarding inbound materials and collaborate with dispatchers on shipments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or a related science discipline, or equivalent work experience.
  • 5 to 7 years of hazardous waste experience required.
  • 1 to 2 years of supervisory experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of disposal capabilities and limitations for efficient waste management.
  • Computer proficiency and excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong time management skills to organize and manage multiple deadlines.
  • Customer service orientation and ability to follow through on projects to completion.
  • Complete knowledge of contract provisions and terms.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Ability to create and prepare necessary reports.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the hazardous waste industry with a focus on compliance and safety regulations.
  • Familiarity with DOT/EPA regulations and HAZWOPER training.
