The Project Manager I/II/Civil Engineer position for the Thornton Water Project is a contract role that plays a crucial part in managing and coordinating various water-related projects. This position is essential for the successful delivery of the Thornton Water Project, which is the largest capital project in the city's history, aimed at providing significant water supply to the community. The role requires strong engineering and management skills, particularly in large diameter pipe and heavy civil construction projects, and offers the potential for conversion to a regular position after the contract period.

  • Manage, administer, and coordinate various water, sewer, storm drainage, and facility projects.
  • Ensure conformance with applicable city, state, and federal standards for capital improvement projects.
  • Oversee and direct the design of capital improvement projects, ensuring they are completed within budget and schedule.
  • Review and approve construction plans, specifications, and engineering calculations.
  • Conduct public meetings and respond to inquiries and complaints from the public.
  • Prepare technical reports and maintain comprehensive technical documentation.
  • Schedule and conduct pre-construction meetings with relevant stakeholders.
  • Assist in the preparation of capital improvement budget requests and cost estimates.
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Architectural/Engineering/Construction Management, or related field.
  • Project Manager I: Two years of related job experience.
  • Project Manager II: Minimum of four years of job-related experience.
  • Civil Engineer: Minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in development review, engineering design, or construction management.
  • Valid Colorado driver's license with a safe driving record.
  • Experience with large diameter pipeline and pump station projects.
  • Knowledge of heavy civil construction activities.
  • Possession of a current Engineer Intern (EI) certification in Colorado for Project Manager II.
  • Possession of a current Professional Engineer (PE) license in Colorado for Civil Engineer.
