About the position

Bala Consulting Engineers is seeking a Project Manager for their New York, NY office. This role involves managing select projects while developing a capable team to execute large-scale projects regionally and nationally. The Project Manager will provide technical expertise, support sales efforts, and maintain client relationships, all while driving change within the firm. This position is viewed as a high-growth opportunity with potential for advancement, emphasizing collaboration and knowledge sharing across multiple offices.

Responsibilities

  • Manage projects with an emphasis on Real Estate, Highrise, Tenant Improvement, Mission Critical, Life Sciences, and/or Building Infrastructure.
  • Oversee project management functions including scope responsibilities, client management, scheduling, and financials.
  • Vet company processes and provide input for improvements.
  • Develop and support assistant project managers to perform independently on similar project types.
  • Mentor staff and serve as a technical resource.
  • Utilize quality control reviews to reinforce technical lessons and company processes.
  • Complete internal peer reviews and assist in the development of comprehensive designs.
  • Perform page turns prior to all major project deliverables and provide input using sound engineering principles.
  • Review workforce projections and relate them to staffing needs.
  • Drive ownership, accountability, and culture within the company.
  • Interact with partners and executives to further the growth and quality agenda of the firm.
  • Identify potential business opportunities and work with the leadership team to develop fees on complex projects.
  • Develop and maintain client relationships to grow the office's market sectors.

Requirements

  • At least eight years' experience in engineering consulting or a related field (construction, owner's representative, etc.).
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a relevant field.
  • PE license preferred.
  • Strong technical writing skills.
  • Knowledge of building codes.
  • Strong interpersonal and team-building skills.
  • Knowledge of sustainable certification programs.
