About The Position

The position involves overseeing, directing, and managing assigned construction projects in collaboration with the Project Manager or General Superintendent at Hunter Contracting Co., a family-owned heavy civil contracting firm. The role requires a strong understanding of project plans and specifications, effective communication with various stakeholders, and ensuring safety and quality control throughout the project lifecycle.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Construction or Civil Engineering.
  • Eight (8)+ years of construction management and/or craft supervision experience.
  • General knowledge of construction activities and methods.
  • Thorough knowledge of construction technology, equipment, and safety protocols.
  • Knowledge of materials, methods, and tools involved in construction.
  • Ability to direct and organize the workforce effectively.
  • Possess a clean Driver's License.

Responsibilities

  • Study and understand project plans, specifications, and documents before starting the project.
  • Review and analyze project estimates with the estimator and Project Manager.
  • Perform quantity take-offs to identify conflicts prior to project commencement.
  • Provide input on project schedules and update them as required.
  • Inform the Project Manager of labor and equipment requirements during project progress.
  • Coordinate scheduling of crews with the Project Manager.
  • Ensure all required shop drawings and documents are submitted in a timely manner.
  • Schedule subcontractors and material suppliers, checking lead-times as necessary.
  • Notify appropriate individuals in writing of any changed conditions or omissions in project documents.
  • Follow through with change orders and provide necessary documentation to the Project Manager.
  • Maintain project Blue Staked and reference for all work phases.
  • Locate and resolve utility conflicts promptly.
  • Arrange for yard locations and obtain necessary permits.
  • Review weekly project cost reports and discuss errors with the Project Manager.
  • Ensure safe conditions for the public and employees with proper traffic control and clean job sites.
  • Maintain positive drainage to protect the project from storm damage.
  • Schedule all required surveying and testing with agencies or subcontractors.
  • Maintain a daily logbook of project progress and issues.
  • Submit quantity reports and timesheets daily.
  • Hold weekly safety meetings and perform monthly pay estimates on time.
  • Correlate final measurements and quantities to close out the job.
  • Supervise Foremen and subcontractors to maintain quality control.
  • Inspect and verify supplies and materials delivered to the job site.
  • Code all field tickets and submit them promptly.
  • Manage hiring, termination, and layoff of the workforce, following proper procedures.
  • Develop final job review with the Project Manager after project completion.
  • Adhere to and advocate for safety policies and procedures.
