About the position

The Property and Casualty Underwriting Coordinator plays a crucial role in the insurance underwriting process by maintaining comprehensive documentation related to insurance applications and underwriting submissions. This position is responsible for coordinating the renewal process and underwriting individual insurance applications for property and casualty coverage. The Underwriting Coordinator conducts audits, ensures compliance with policies and regulations, and is dedicated to delivering excellent customer service to clients and stakeholders. In this role, the Underwriting Coordinator will maintain accurate and up-to-date data, both electronic and physical files, for underwriting records, policies, and endorsements. They will document underwriting decisions using automated desktop systems and tools, supporting the collection, validation, and organization of data related to insurance applications and underwriting submissions. The coordinator will also gather necessary information, prepare renewal documents, and assist in client communications to ensure a smooth renewal process. Additionally, the Underwriting Coordinator will manage production activities such as submissions, quotes, declines, binds, and issuance, ensuring that clients receive accurate, timely, and quality service. They will underwrite individual insurance applications for Property and Casualty coverage, applying established guidelines for policy issuance while considering both standard and substandard criteria. Compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and standards is paramount, and the coordinator will assist in internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and information. Collaboration with underwriting teams is essential to relay information, coordinate tasks, and support the overall underwriting process. The role also involves communicating with clients, brokers, and underwriters to gather additional information, clarify details, and address inquiries regarding underwriting submissions, all while delivering excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains accurate and up-to-date data, electronic and physical files for underwriting records, policies, and endorsements.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in Underwriting coordination, Administrative Support or Customer service roles in the insurance industry is preferred.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum requirements for state P&C and/or surplus line licenses.
