Job Description Job Description ***This job will be located in Chicago, IL*** Responsibilities : As a Property Staff Accountant, this individual will play a key role in the company's Accounting Department. S/he will perform day-to-day accounting tasks for a portfolio of properties and will interface with a variety of people including site personnel, Area Managers, and other members of the Accounting and Administrative teams. This salary amount does not include an Annual discretionary bonus reflecting your progress and performance PLUS fully paid Medical and Disability insurance. Responsibilities may include: Compile and record tenant-related transactions in the general ledger Prepare and submit monthly HAP vouchers to the appropriate housing authority Review rent roll and gross potential rent, record any adjustments Complete monthly reconciliations for bank accounts and balance sheet/income statement accounts Team with site personnel to complete day-to-day accounting tasks, and answer related questions Collaborate with Area Manager and site personnel troubleshoot problems Complete month-end close tasks accurately and on time Assist with preparation of files for annual audit/tax return, and provide support during audit fieldwork Assist with preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for investors and tax agencies Meticulously maintain all files and records Complete all tasks while complying with GAAP, internal controls, and other internal policies May be cross trained in payroll and/or accounts payable administration Other duties as assigned by Controller and CFO Qualifications : Bachelor's degree in accounting, preferred 1+ years of related experience, preferred Strong understanding of GAAP Superb Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Outlook, Word) Experience using account software (preferably Yardi) Strong communication and time management skills Extremely detail-oriented and analytical Must act with highest degree of professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality Our Investment in You : Competitive market compensation package Medical PPO plan (provided) Life insurance (premiums paid by employer) Short-term disability and long-term disability insurance (premiums paid by employer) Dental and vision insurance plans 401(k) plan Seven (7) paid holidays each year Fifteen (15) PTO days in first year Applicable Physical Capabilities: General mobility in office areas is required, along with the ability to operate data processing/office equipment.
