About the position

The Proposal Technical Writer at RMGS, Inc. is responsible for developing and writing proposals for federal government contracts. This role involves collaborating with subject matter experts to create comprehensive and compelling proposal documents, ensuring compliance with solicitation requirements, and maintaining a proposal library. The position requires strong writing and editing skills, as well as proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

  • Interview subject matter experts to develop proposal text, including technical, management, and past performance sections.
  • Write, edit, and proofread proposals, sources sought, white papers, and other corporate correspondence, ensuring completeness, accuracy, consistency, coherence, and readability.
  • Assist with formatting proposals, resumes, and other documents.
  • Conduct proposal compliance checks against the solicitation requirements.
  • Create simple graphics, charts, and tables in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Participate in reviews, providing recommendations for improvement.
  • Work closely with primes, subcontractors, and independent consultants to complete data calls.
  • Maintain an online proposal library.
  • Monitor, track, and analyze solicitation amendments.
  • Provide research and other administrative support.
  • Participate in strategy sessions, kick-off meetings, and daily stand-ups as required.
  • Support the proposal manager with proposal development tasks in accordance with the established schedule.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in English, journalism, communications, or related field.
  • At least two years of experience working on federal government proposals.
  • In-depth familiarity with the Chicago Manual of Style and the APA Publication Manual.
  • Mastery of the Microsoft Office suite, particularly Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Team player with strong writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to remain flexible and work outside of normal working hours (8:00 AM-5:00 PM) to meet deadlines as required.
  • Proactive, detail-oriented individual with the ability to work independently and produce high-quality products.
  • Active U.S. Department of Defense security clearance or the ability to obtain one.
