About the position

The Psychiatric Nurse position at Seacoast Mental Health Center involves providing care and support to individuals with mental health needs as part of the Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) team. The role focuses on medication management, patient education, and collaboration with healthcare professionals to promote recovery and well-being in the community.

Responsibilities

• Oversee ACT medication program
• Administer injections and oral medication in office or community settings
• Assist patients with medication planners and coordinate with pharmacies
• Supervise and delegate medication delivery by case management staff
• Work closely with the ACT psychiatrist to assess mental status and medication effectiveness
• Implement changes to medication regimes as needed
• Educate patients about medication indications and side effects
• Facilitate delivery of medications to clients requiring supervised administration
• Monitor documentation of all medication services
• Assess overall physical health of patients on an ongoing basis
• Provide basic medical assessments and referrals to community providers
• Educate patients, families, and staff about mental illness and physical health
• Attend daily team meetings and weekly supervision with ACT psychiatrist
• Provide on-call crisis intervention and backup as per team policy
• Cover RN duties at other SMHC sites as necessary

Requirements

• Valid RN License in the State of New Hampshire
• Experience in psychiatric nursing preferred
• CPR and First Aid training recommended
