A research assistant position is available at the Penn State University Micrometeorology Laboratory. This position involves operating gas analyzers to collect air chemistry data for a project examining the effects of aerosols on cloud formation. Additionally, the position includes analyzing historical meteorological and particle data sets to assess changes in aerosol composition in the eastern U.S. Numerical models will be used and modified to investigate how aerosol concentrations and chemical composition influence cloud formation during the summer months. A report summarizing the findings must be completed by the end of the project. The part-time (less than 5 months) position requires 40 hours of work per week and offers a competitive hourly rate of $20/hr. depending. A strong background and interest in data analysis, computer programming, and data visualization (preferably using Adobe InDesign or Illustrator) are highly desirable. Experience with Python and Fortran programming will be an asset. The position can start any time after April 1, 2025.
