About the position

The Public Affairs Specialist 2 (Web Communications Coordinator) at the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife (ODFW) is responsible for developing and managing web content for the agency's new website. This role involves writing web copy, curating content, and collaborating with various stakeholders to enhance the online presence of ODFW. The position also includes serving as a communications officer for statewide initiatives, focusing on public relations, media relations, and outreach support. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in web communications, public relations, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop web content for ODFW's new website, including writing web copy and curating existing content.
  • Serve as ongoing web content editor for agency websites, planning and creating web content, and maintaining editorial style.
  • Collaborate with staff, volunteers, and contractors to implement website enhancements and provide training on content management.
  • Act as communications officer for statewide issues, providing planning, messaging, and outreach support.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Public Administration, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, or related field.
  • Two years of professional level experience in Public Relations or Affairs, or five years of directly related experience with two years at the professional level.
  • Experience in web-related work, including editing web pages and gathering web analytics.
  • Strong background in public relations and outreach, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Fluency in Spanish is preferred.
