About the position

CES Consulting, LLC is seeking a Public Outreach Manager for its Civil Engineering practice in Maryland. This role is crucial for developing strategic plans to inform local communities, municipalities, and various stakeholders about construction projects. The Public Outreach Manager will be responsible for creating and implementing outreach strategies that effectively communicate the company's projects and initiatives to the public, stakeholders, and government entities. This position reports directly to the Maryland Regional Director and plays a pivotal role in ensuring that the community is well-informed and engaged throughout the construction process. The Public Outreach Manager will develop high-level community outreach strategies tailored for various construction projects. This includes executing comprehensive public outreach plans, serving as the primary point of contact for all public inquiries and communications, and coordinating with project managers to ensure the accurate and timely dissemination of information. The role also involves organizing and facilitating public meetings, workshops, and events, as well as preparing and distributing press releases, newsletters, and other communication materials. Building and maintaining relationships with community leaders, elected officials, and media representatives is essential, as is monitoring and reporting on public sentiment and feedback regarding company projects. Additionally, the Public Outreach Manager will assist in crisis management and emergency communications as needed.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in public outreach or community engagement.
  • Strong understanding of civil engineering or construction industry preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
  • Proficient in social media and digital communication platforms.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends for events.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the Construction Management or Civil Engineering industries.
  • Experience working with Local, State, and/or Federal Government Clients.
  • Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
