The University of New Mexico Press, the largest book publisher in the state of New Mexico, is seeking a dynamic and innovative Publicist to join its sales and marketing team. This role is pivotal in developing and executing media campaigns for new book releases, working closely with authors, editorial staff, and media contacts. The Publicist will be responsible for maintaining relationships with print and broadcast media, scheduling interviews, and assembling contact lists for review copies. Additionally, the role involves writing press releases, pitch letters, and promotional copy, as well as developing press kits and managing social media initiatives. The Publicist will oversee book award submissions and participate in press meetings on behalf of the department, collaborating with internal production and editorial staff as necessary. The position may also require representing the press at select press events and conferences, which could occur during weekends or evenings.
